Happiest Memory: I Sold My Computer & Drove To California

When I sold my computer back in the 90’s, I used the $750, plus $300 I had and traveled west to California from New York. I spent one month traveling with $1050 and it’s one of the happiest memories I have.

American Online had surfaced and people were starting to spend a lot of time sitting at a computer. I started to notice how it was draining me, and I didn’t like it. In touch with my intuition, I spontaneously sold my custom computer and traveled with my friend Che by car across the country.

Our destination was Silverlake, Los Angeles, California where Che and I had a friend who lived in a cool house in the hills. It was the same neighborhood where the Beastie Boys and Beck had homes. Our friend lived with two gals, one was from Buffalo, NY and the other was from Brooklyn, NY and had formerly lived with Beck in Silverlake.

We stopped in Arizona to see my mother who was visiting out there. I got super sick and had a fever of 104.9, so Che took a bus to California while I rested and healed. When I was back on my feet, I traveled solo to California and stopped at a cool motel (I think it was called the Music Motel). I sunbathed…
